I will be voting for Beelzebub, as they are the obviously superior choice to Lucifer. And you can stfu about how "I'm voting for a demon who is creating a hell on earth." Nobody's perfect, alright?
in reply to Aral Balkan

The thing I hate the most about this vacuous, facile position is that they're the very people who are accepting the black and white (read blue or red) by consistently failing to see that "third candidates" - whatever their stripe - might actually be a more worthwhile choice but their own need to run with the crowd keeps them in the very lane they think they're voting their way out of.

@fkamiah17 Or even, you know, pressuring their own candidate. Shutting everything down until they change course. At the very least maybe not fawning over them? I don’t know.
in reply to Aral Balkan

I'm just flamethrowering the lot of them, Aral. I can't be arsed with their bullshit.

@fkamiah17
I watch on with dismay as otherwise sensible people high five each other over facile Obama penis jokes and how great their "team" is generally. All the while children are literally getting their heads blown off.
Somebody on here with the other day with a large following was admonishing anyone who dared raise the issue of Gaza. Apparently, there are other conflicts going on and there's nothing special about Gaza, and even broaching it is helping Trump
in reply to Aral Balkan

Exactly this. Because Drumpf is so much worse for them, they can't even begin to think they could withold their vote for whatever shitlib he runs against until they make fucking concessions.

Some people don't realize your allowed to pressure your own candidate:

"Criticisms of the Biden administration’s policy toward Israel are not only coming from uncommitted delegates. They’re also coming from people trying to get Vice President Kamala Harris elected ...

Though mainstream Democrats have derided pro-Palestine demonstrators as outsiders who would hurt Democrats’ chances, Ahmad is a Muslim delegate from Florida who is committed to Harris."

"it's just a little genocide, you can't expect perfection" in the same tone of voice you use for toddlers who don't like the color of their shoes is one of the most evil kinds of condescension in all of history.

Makes you wonder what Chris Ferdinandi thinks is black and white morality if retaliatory ethnic cleansing of the local helotry isn't on the list.
in reply to Aral Balkan

wow why it's always a Mastodon(dot)social user, every passing day my instance's decision to soft block that instance makes more sense to me.
in reply to Aral Balkan

I'm sorry, this was the main reason I wasn't stoked to vote for Biden, so not sure if Kamala is better than Biden in this instance.
in reply to Aral Balkan

I'll just add that a large part of *my* annoyance at so many of my fellow lefties is that they seem to have just heard of Palestine a year ago. This genocide is the most predictable atrocity in history. Where was this energy before?
And then when we point out the next most predictable atrocity (of letting the GOP gain control again,) we get told we are pro-genocide. 🤦🏽‍♂️

That said I understand their anger as I share it so I don't fault them their slightly different view.

in reply to Aral Balkan

That's fine, but let's not let Republicans and their control of the budget and military spending, off the hook. Ultimately it is Congress who passes the budget, not the president or Admin in power. And it has been Republicans who have been adamant in their support of the Israeli government, more cracks on the Democrat side. At least Democrats have Barbara Lee.
in reply to Aral Balkan

You know how I know these people don't really care? They could have forced the democrats to change course with empty threats. They could have just SAID they won't vote for her, to scare the democrats into changing course. They could have lied.

If enough of them did it, we could have seen some real change, without risking a Trump victory.

But they chose not to. Instead, they chose to attack those who refuse to enable a genocide.

That's how I know they don't really care. They never did. Malcolm X had the right idea about them.
