RE: floss.social/@doctormo/1169277…

Ah, finally, they’re saying the quiet parts out loud:

“Sure, the social angle of working on open source is important and often a very motivating part of the project, but in the end that’s a side benefit, not the _point_ of the project.” – Linus Torvalds

Now do you understand what I mean when I say “free” as in “freedom” versus “open” as in “open for business?”

yeh, but the way I see it, I named my son after Linus when he wasn't a total c*nt, so it's all good

@sortius
That's rough. Luckily, there are still good Linus role-models around.

"Sure, the social angle of working on open source is important and often a very motivating part of the project, but in the end that's a side benefit, not the _point_ of the project. This is *NOT* some kind of "social warrior" project, never has been, and never will be."

This bugged me more than the AI stance to be honest. People who use "social warrior" or "SJW" are typically aweful people with shitty ideas on how society should work.

and accusing people of "religious reasons" for not using AI... The technology that is totally based on faith, and people believing it will be amazing soon... While it's objectively a disaster at all levels now.
