Side light reveals the texture of the skin and the fine lines while the background remains completely black. The tension comes from the contrast between the illuminated surface and the surrounding darkness. An analog black and white photograph, raw and focused on a gesture whose meaning stays unresolved, as if the frame captured a moment before intention becomes clear.

Extremly emotional.
This really hit a nerv, it is so inconvenient and made me think of a serie selfportrait I made a couple of years back of abuse.

@ambivalena Thanks for those words. Good to know this shot can bring up memories and emotions like that. There was something hard to name in that darkness, so I’m glad it reached you. And the hand… it’s a different kind of scream, just without sound.
