Climbing into the clouds, we looked back towards the fjord and this beautiful sight.

When I was young I would look up at telephone wires and imagine I could see the conversations running through them.

Step in Time for #spookysaturday

When I was a kid I was loaned a book by a family friend. In it were all things paranormal and I remember being fascinated with the ghost photos. The one that scared me the most was 'The Spectre of Newby Church', still is a bit unsettling to be honest.
So, this photo is a little bit of a love-letter to the paranormal and to Jack, who loaned me the book. He's no longer with us but his memory lives on. ♥️ (And it wasn't spontaneous combustion as the book would have led me to believe, I really thought adults were going up in flames left right and centre all over the shop) ✨

An abandoned pottery factory, somewhere in #France

This small French #pottery works thrived for decades. It remained modest, while competitors expanded and modernised. While this gives the ruins a certain quaint charm, it was certainly a major factor in their closure!

Inside, the upper floors have long rows of wooden racks stacked with hundreds of moulds. Heavy pieces were once moved on wooden carts along a rail system.

Terraces

The stepped side of the mountain is clothed in autumnal colours. Carpets of mosses and grasses are interwoven with gravelly channels.

All around us is the sound of running water.

I just donated to the fediverse instance I use, mastoart.social. In an otherwise rapidly enshittifing online space decentralized social media needs your support. If you are able, please consider donating to your instance! Thanks so much @bestiaexmachina & @Kitty for allowing me to use your instance & happy whatever y'all celebrate at this time of year!

Hey everyone, I’m #newhere. I’m interested in #atheism, #photography, #science, and #skepticism

I have a long journey in diaspora.

Came to diaspora when G+ closed years ago, then the instance closed and I moved to diasporasocial, net
That server was disconnected days ago. All of this week it shows as Error 500, with no other information, and no heads up from the admins. A friend here suggested I join. Now I have to figure out how to regain content, and contacts.

I have been a photographer (never a professional) for over 40 years. Now retired from a long career in IT, am devoting most of my time to travel and photography.

Will post more when I regain contacts, and figure out how to connect in diaspora again.

"The Sea Otter has the thickest fur of any living animal, with an incredible 100 000 or more hairs per square centimetre." (Blood 1993).

Kaleido 2

Here it is: No. 2 of #HaraldsKaleidoArt.
I especially like it when textures and colours are not clear and smooth, but iridescent or rough, like an old painting.

Körde in på en grusväg inte långt från mitt hem i dag. Där hade jag inte varit förut och det var väldigt vackert med många gamla träd som lyste av mossa.

Not the best-quality photo, but a memory of an amazing NYC concert by the Gambian musician Sona Jobarteh — the first woman from a West African griot family to professionally play the kora, a 21-stringed instrument with a calabash gourd body. The skill is usually passed down from father to son and is reserved for prominent griots (master storytellers and keepers of oral tradition). She did her lineage proud.

Fisheye lens shot on a light rail train. Love the way the relatively short flexible section gets elongated into a sci-fi-ish tunnel.
