Yeah I ended up just using Ubuntu this whole time. Never had an issue with it. Even have my family using it solely.

Only OS switching I do is Windows for some games (I prefer Linux so I basically only play The Finals on Windows and use some emulators for netplay communities that do not support Linux).

I can only recommend to play under Linux. Yeah, 20 years ago the driver support for GPUs was terrible but today I have no issues with playing on PC (since years). Actually I mostly play on my PS, but some games which are PC-(Windows-)only can be played from #Steam, #Lutris, #GoG etc.; You even don't need the proprietary crap, because the #OpenSource drivers doing fine. Just try. Most people don't because the think it doesn't work, because an old forum post says that πŸ˜‰
