ZRythm reached 1.0.0 status yesterday. It's a new, powerful open source DAW, for all major platforms. However it runs really hot on my laptop, and not all my plugins were recognized. Bright future ahead though!

You know, it's been a while, so I am again trying to program the thumb button on my #Logitech #mxergo trackball. Being #linux, that damn button isn't "seen" per se. I see no event generated when running xe.

I read somewhere that #solaar could do it, but I've never been able to get it to assign anything to it.

Has anyone successfully done this?

Arch just got a little easier. Archinstall 3.0 brings some interesting improvements.

I want to setup a linux laptop for my parent and be able to access it wherever they are online - ideally to have a remote desktop kind of access.

ideally, when I need to have access, they would just double click an icon and I could get access and controll over their mouse pointer and keyboard input.

what stack of softwares would you recommend?

Thus has it ever been with OSS projects. The year of the #Linux desktop never comes, because it is easier for corporate IT departments to blame Microsoft rather than taking responsibility.

Recently a bakery here in town closed and a completely different person opened a completely different bakery business in the same physical space. People complain all the time that the "new owners" have changed everything. And refuse to understand they didn't buy the business, they just are renting the same space.

OSS is similar.

And frankly, I am happy that people are flocking to Bluesky. And that there is no huge move to the Linux desktop. As long as we are an unprofitable backwater, enshittification will stay away.

PS. I’ve been running Fedora Silverblue on it but I’m happy to install whichever Linux distribution you like on it.

So I just discovered a Flatpak app called "Mission Center" that seems to be a really cool system monitor application that has several features not present in the default system monitors for many desktop environments. It shows temperatures, clock speeds, etc. In terms of aesthetic, it kinda looks like Windows task manager, but with more bells and whistles. It even has buttons to start, stop and restart running systemd services.
