TBH it's not even broadly js that's the awful party here, but all the interfaces exposed to js to do malicious things like stealing clipboard contents, autoplaying media, grabbing keyboard events, spying on mouse fidgeting to fingerprint you, proof of work, implementing a client application instead of a document, etm etm etm.
Js that's limited to just "web 2.0 ajax" for progressive enhancement and interactive functionality without page reload would be cool with me.
