Was woken up this morning (12 Aug 2024) at 00.00 GMT (01.00 BST) by my phone buzzing. It was one of my #aurora apps saying the #NorthernLights would likely be visible across the UK.

I usually take it with a pinch of salt but I nevertheless I always look - just in case - to indulge the astrogeek in me.

My room has a north facing window so I stuck my phone out and managed to snap the very faint red and green hues of the #AuroraBorealis just east of #London.

My image was taken at 2 in the morning local time.

Yes it sure was, but the first one was already on August the first. Not as strong seen as today, but really good for being in the summer.
