“Heatwaves are the deadliest type of extreme #weather but they don’t leave a trail of destruction or striking images of devastation. They kill poor, lonely people in rich countries, and poor people working outdoors in developing countries,” said Otto, who is also a senior lecturer in #climate science at the Grantham Institute of Imperial College #London. “In the last 13 months, there will be thousands and thousands of stories of poor people dying in heat that will never be told.”

Climate change will hit the poor in Africa and Southern Asia first and hardest. First there will be a few deaths, then hundreds, then thousands...

... and our extreme levels of hydrocarbon consumption will be morally unacceptable (as if it was not already).

If that does not bring about radical reform, nothing will. And then we will all be done.

Even at that point it will be too late, as temperatures will continue to rise for some time due to a lag effect and the existence of feed-back mechanisms. We are probably already cooked.
