I can't believe my #selfhosting one year anniversary is coming up next week. @yunohost truly changed my digital life - for the better.

This is a 1st post in a 4 part miniseries intended for real newbies.

Good morning Fedi friends!

This week I will publish a first post in my mini series for total newbies about how to self-host with #YunoHost.

The very first article will simply cover the basics of what is needed... then part 2 will be the step-by-step installation and connecting a domain + creating a subdomain... and then part 3 will cover installing an app (NextCloud) and setting up a backup system.

I'm hoping to get all this done before Christmas, in time for my one year anniversary of self-hosting with YunoHost (thank you again @ilja for setting all this in motion last year).

As I type this, I'm currently backing up my YunoHost and these days my backup files are about 13GB in size, broken down as follows (in descending order):

• #GoToSocial: 5.3 GB
• #PeerTube: 4 GB
• #NextCloud: 2.3 GB
• #Pixelfed: 1.4 GB
• #LinkStack: 91 MB

Naja, jeder #provider offeriert dir heute natürlich auch noch immer ein #oldstable für deinen #vps, nicht ohne Grund, denn, wie wir wissen, sind die ja auch noch immer und darüber hinaus noch länger stable. #debian eben.

Von #bullseye zu #bookworm war es für #yunohost ein großer, verständlicher Weise auch ein beschwerlicher Schritt.

Aber das haben die geschafft. Und so werden die auch den Übergang zu #trixie bewältigen.

Wir nutzen es für den Freundeskreis und die Mitglieder im #Verein und deren Freunde.

Du kannst natürlich auch je "eine VM für einen Dienst" aufsetzen.

Dann läge mir vielleicht ein #container in #proxmox näher.

Würde ich komplett mit einem #yunohost abbilden. Läuft unter #debian. Ist skalierbar.

Jeder Account ist direkt über #matrix zu erreichen und du kannst weitere spannende Dienste 'obendrauf' anbieten.
