It's important to understand thought processes so as to counter it.

The MAGA crowd that's taken over the GOP lately really lacks intellectual rigor, so their mainstream thought patterns lean heavily into confirmation bias and personalities.

In this case, when you listen to them they've listed Graham as a good person, largely because he's told them what they want to hear, confirming their biases. Ok, so GIVEN THAT he's a good person, why is he good? Well, they point to his upbringing, and the sister is part of that story and had the same upbringing.

Ergo, they see the sister as being just as qualified. And heck, they're kind of right... she's equally unqualified too.

Lack of government experience is often seen as a positive in their book since the mean old government victimized them.

For the last couple of days I've heard mainstream conservatives outright praising Graham for things like bombing the SAT. They are considered merits in their book.
