Some days I am more enthusiastic about getting Summer out on the trail than others.
As I looked west from our deck the ocean was obscured by fog. I could almost hear the clouds of mosquitoes.
Home was cozy and my embroidery project beckoned.
But Summer...
Here she comes with my hat.
Her tail is wagging and she smiles her Summer smile.
I have no answer for all of that other than we better get packed up and go.
It was early so we had the trail to ourselves.
The adventure is always worth it in the end.

Since my husband is feeling stronger today I'm working on getting him on his feet a little.
I told him and Summer that if they joined me for some on the stairs games there might be treats afterwards.
My husband perked right up.
He took the upstairs position and I took downstairs. Summer's job was to run the toys between us.
The toys got lots of air time, Summer got to run, her pal laughed out loud and I got some photos.
I agreed to bake a pie and they agreed to share a piece.
I think we were all the winners.
While he was upstairs we chucked him in the shower. This day is going my way so far.
We will be all cleaned up for when the grandkids arrive to lend a hand this afternoon.

I set my alarm this morning.
Getting on the trail very early makes for the best experience for Summer and I.
We love the feel of the trail right after the sun is up.
Today is overcast but light enough.
We were surprised to see two other cars in the parking lot but never saw the people connected to the vehicles.
Settling into our familiar rythym we followed the sound of the waves to the beach.
Summer is happy to be in this happy place.
