I felt tired and crushed yesterday (the lack of sleep, the work, the world, the people, the deadlines, the overall life overwhelm) and still to the neighbouring town (ebikes are amazing) to meet with a friend, have a picnic and chat.

And then her partner's dog, whi stays with her over the weekend, decided to put her very wet butt next to me. Was I wet and full of dog hair? Yes. Was I a lot happier after snuggling a dog? So much yes.

Report from the Amsterdam protest: there are a few hundred people here and two uniformed Dutch cops at a respectful distance very casually chatting with each other while they wait for nothing to hurry up and happen.

A lot of people are tourists (American or otherwise) who happened to see the protest because the US consulate is between several museums. They’re all like “hell yeah I’m stopping for this.” Passing bikes ring their bells (some of them might even be in support and not because Americans are standing on the bike path). I don’t know where someone in Amsterdam found an enormous California bear flag on such short notice

And yes, everyone loves Odin, who randomly decided to put his paws up on my shoulders when we were very visible to the crowd

Summer and her pal are feeling rested this morning. They are anxious for me to catch up, and feel better. I am better than yesterday, but still have a pesky cough.
We are sitting here together communicating with our family who are currently in So Cal.
They are having fun, and said that we shouldn't worry about them. Today, they are attending some Pride celebration festivities, and the next two days will be Disneyland.
We are very lucky when it comes to our immediate family. They are good folks.
We are also lucky when it comes to our virtual world too. Thankful for our Mastodon friends.

Summer kept the faith.
She knew that when the time was right we would get away from home for an adventure.
We all went down to the bay, but her pal didn't get out to walk.
I didn't walk very far.

Summer is pretty happy that both of her humans are feeling more like humans this morning.
I might even bake some banana muffins today. I won't share any though because we won't be spreading our germs around for awhile.
I told my husband that I might toss our pillows and mattresses on a bonfire to kill off the germs, but he said I can't because bonfires are prohibited this time of year. I will have to depend on the fresh air and sunshine to help sanitize. Today we will let the sunshine and fresh air flood our living space.
