This is a rare week with no medical appointments on our calendar.

Summer thought she needed to pester me for a walk by bringing a hat for me to wear but I was way ahead of her with the water bottle filled and boots on already.
Today is a picture perfect day here on the north coast of California.
We started out early and even asked my husband to come along but he decided he's not quite ready even if we scale back our adventuring.
Maybe tomorrow we can take the truck to get him on the beach.

Summer monitors all kitchen activities.
The first photo is her before I mentioned blueberry muffins the second photo is her licking her chops at the very mention of her favorite forbidden treat.
I suspect her pal indulges her occasionally as he is more persuadeable than I am when it comes to allowing people food.

Summer is the sweetest lap dog.
Maybe in the universe.
She has a long list of chores today.
Gopher surveillance is high on her list.
Sometimes we have different priorities.
Housework, baking, shopping, for us and a sick friend, gardening, and maybe protesting is on my list
Summer's pal has been holding his own and getting a little stronger every day. He says eating pies are key to his good health. I'm not so sure about that.
No time to dawdle.
Coffee and muffins to serve for breakfast and off to Costco.
For some reason Summer and I feel hopeful for the future today. It's a fabulous feeling.

The last couple of days have been a bit of a challenge. The pollen count at our house is high as gauged by how much is covering our vehicles. My sinuses don't like it one bit.
Yesterday, I finally caved and started taking an allergy pill. I had to look through our supplies to find a bottle that will expire the end of this month.
It still worked.
My headache evaporated and I slept last night.
Summer says this means we can hit the trail this morning. She brought me three hats to choose from.
I picked my Tigers hat and told her load em up and move em out.

Summer was a big help in the garden.

Some days I am more enthusiastic about getting Summer out on the trail than others.
As I looked west from our deck the ocean was obscured by fog. I could almost hear the clouds of mosquitoes.
Home was cozy and my embroidery project beckoned.
But Summer...
Here she comes with my hat.
Her tail is wagging and she smiles her Summer smile.
I have no answer for all of that other than we better get packed up and go.
