Allegedly, somewhere in our family tree on my grandmother's side, we were part Jewish. This is relevant only because I was always told not to give up anthropometric data because "you never know when they're going to get out the meat hooks and go looking for people to kill".
I mean, I can think of plenty of reasons I could end up on a list, inherent red-headed-step-child energy is a big one. But I grew up being told other people were always a hair's breadth from turning into Nazis again, because it's just something people do for some reason. (Also learned the hard way via the other side of the family that was a great example of that concept)
As a result, I never thought commercial DNA testing was remotely good. After learning more about early eugenics scams to get people's data, even less so.

Anyway, PSA, don't give strangers your DNA

I've always felt that what DNA matching means is that you were foolish enough to give your genetic record to a third party where it will eventually be made public. Unless your doctor orders it for diagnostic purposes and they keep the data, of course.
All that #23andme data is going to go somewhere out of their customers' control.
Who cares if you are (allegedly) 2 pct. [Insert ethnicity here]?
