At last, a pill that can prevent #COVID19 after exposure to infected people nature.com/articles/d41586-026… #Science

Just your friendly #COVID19 data tracker (not a COVID minimizer) here to report that COVID hospitalizations reported by the CDC are the lowest they've been since March 2020.

Also, the positive rate of testing is half as low as it's ever been in a year.

And COVID in wastewater is at its lowest point in 4 years.

I don't recollect a US map like this since the CDC's National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) has been reporting on #COVID19. Virtually every state is at very low viral activity. Just four are at low (LA, MS, TX, WV.) The only place COVID is presently moderate is Washington, D.C., probably due to all the anti-vax conservatives in the Trump administration.

We are almost 60% lower than this same week last year. No sign of a summer surge, but last year's didn't start until July.

Funny how everyone thinks Covid is totally over, yet we constantly see cancelled shows, events with celebs and athletes admitting to long term serious health issues

It was a slow month for next generation Covid vaccine results reporting, but a big month for clinical trial news:

- A new clinical trial for intranasal and inhaled versions of a vax is on the starting blocks in the US;

- Another intranasal vax trial has expanded to another 2 cities in the US; and

- A trial for a "variant-proof" vax going into phase 2a trial in Germany.

Plus some preclinical reports & more in my latest monthly update @PLOS

This spring's #COVID19 lull is really something. Our current level of COVID in wastewater, per WastewaterSCAN, is the lowest in over four years, but how much lower is worth noting. The level of COVID is presently:

- Almost 60% lower than our fall 2025 lull
- Over 75% lower than last spring's or the fall 2024 lull

It seems we could still go lower, and there is no sign yet of our summer surge. (I'll still be masking next week while traveling. Why show up sick?)
