Colour photo of the most worn-looking external wooden double door you can possibly imagine. Each side of the door is a solid plank of wood, which might at some point in the distant past have been painted white on top of a rust-red colour, but only a memory of the paint remains as a faint stain on the pockmarked, rough-grained surface. Each side also has a vertical metal handle, rendered verdigris by time and use. There is a narrow metal slot for letters in the top left corner, warped and bent out of shape. The doors were once held shut by a bolt, which has long since disappeared leaving only the rusted metal plate that the bold would have slid into, and holes where the other fixture used to be. It looks more like a stage prop that an enthusiastic designer over-elaborated to the point of parody rather than something which actually exists in the real world.

A pile of discarded styrofoam trays and black plastic bin bags on a slick shiny flagstone pavement, framed by two marble columns, with a sunlit pastel red brick wall in the background. A flock of twenty or so seagulls have descended onto the pile of rubbish and are scrabbling and squabbling for scraps. The focus of the image is a seagull close to the centre of the frame, in profile, just about to land on top of the pile, long wings upstretched, in silhouette. It is a chaotic scene.
