We wanted to have a quiet afternoon and so we went to go to Kapej Coffee on the Brown Line. It is one of our favorite places in #Chicago with some of the best #coffee in the city. In fact, the owner was roasting coffee fresh in a little alcove off the counter.

@dohappybelove made a #painting and @seanbala started #reading “The Lost Cause” by @pluralistic - a wonderful Sunday!

A dear friend of mine, an #architecture student actively interested in #solarpunk and #sustainable #infrastructure is currently visiting #Berlin .

Is there anything you could recommend for him to see, any place to visit, people to meet? Do you know anyone from #freifunk who could show him how the network works?

He might not be into software or hardware enough to appreciate cBase, he is more interested in city scale transport systems, urban planning and so on.

Nice piece on #Solarpunk from a little while back.

I especially like this bit:
"Although optimistic, Solarpunk’s future imaginings do not fit neatly with current political regimes or economic systems. Self-described “researcher-at-large” Adam Flynn argues that the movement begins with “infrastructure as a form of resistance”. Solarpunks are in the business of dreaming a totally different system of energy delivery, essential services and transport. "

Decided to grow a street lamp.

Here it is at 3 weeks, 2 months, and fully grown at 6 months.

My audacious plan to release a free #solarpunk story every week has run into a snag... but these four stories are STILL FREE! So grab them while they are! Or preorder the collection which releases next week on Earth Day!

WHAT? The artist who made the art for my #solarpunk Halfway to Better collection has made the covers into GREETING CARDS!

One of my fav things to do is to support artists, and I usually do that through commissioning cover art, but often through buying cards of various artists, even when I can't afford to buy their work.

This is the first time one of my commissions has been made into CARDS!

I love it.

You can check them out here: https://lnk.to/HtBcards

America's first sustainable urban agrihood in Detroit.
"The three-acre development has vacant land, along with occupied and abandoned homes centered around a two-acre urban garden, with more than 300 organic vegetable varieties, like lettuce, kale, and carrots, as well as a 200-tree fruit orchard, with apples, pears, plums, and cherries, a children’s sensory garden, and more."

On this #TransDayOfVisiblity, I want to specifically highlight Bernie Wagenblast.

She is one of the famous announcer voices for New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority! (See video for demonstration)

From her wikipedia page: Bernie Wagenblast is a transportation journalist, radio personality and voice-over artist. She is the founder and editor of the Transportation Communications Newsletter. She also edits The AASHTO Daily Transportation Update, published by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and hosts AASHTO's ETAP Podcast and the ITE Talks Transportation podcast for the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Trans folks putting the 'trans' in public transit!

My little #solarpunk indoor gardening project is coming along nicely, and seeing new seeds sprout (here: sunflowers and kohlrabi) fills me with joy. 🥰 Using only things I’ve already had or scavenged, I’m slowly turning a cupboard in my kitchen into an indoor food garden. Once I’m done and figure out energy needs, my final goal will be to try and build a solar panel to power it.
