It's time for *all* instances to start telling their members if they don't give at least $5 a month, their account will be suspended, and 30 days after that, it will be deleted.
There is nobody who can afford internet access that can't afford $5 a month.
(If someone is REALLY in bad shape they can apply for a *temporary* deferment from donating.)

How many instance members were happy to pay Elon for a stupid blue tick I wonder?
£$€5.00 per month isn't an unreasonable membership fee. Maybe give a discount for 6 or 12 month advanced payments, if you're feeling generous.
Maybe if someone is really in hard times then deal with that on a case by case basis.
If they are trustworthy they can be a volunteer moderator to help out?
