Shots were fired... in German, because when a mainstream TV station runs a 2 minute commercial for a teeny tiny dormant social network, which is a trojan horse for mandatory age verification, staying silent isn't an option.

If what attracts them to #WSocial is their 24k users, well, #Eurosky has the same but much much livelier activity.

So when is @tagesschau planning to cover Eurosky? Or - dare I say - the FEDIVERSE with its millions of accounts?

Hi! I was (meant to be) the critical voice in that piece, but most of my criticism didn't make it into the report. I do think that the reporter who wrote the piece actually got the issues with WSocial. I also pointed them to your reporting on that matter.

I did my best to sneak Eurosky and the Fediverse into the interview, but apparently I need better media training …

@Kudusch thank you!!! I appreciated your critical angle in the segment... I just found the rest of the piece to be PR disguised as news. It's particularly shocking considering how moribund / inactive the network really is @tagesschau

The open-web narrative falls flat: the #Fediverse often turns into an echo chamber with illusory privacy (data is public) and arbitrary moderation on main instances. Meanwhile, platforms like #Bluesky remain superficial w.i.p. Mainstream media just look for usability, scale and clear governance, not digital fiefdoms.
