For video sharing content on activitypub, you can register a new account and sign in to peertube instances

It's different over on atproto. You don't need an extra account on Bluemotion video sharing app. Just sign in using your existing Bluesky account

Exciting times for the fediverse!

it should be noted that this is not an official BlueSky service.

This is the issue I see with BlueSky's corporate nature and trying to be federated, but not.

People will use the BlueSky name, obviously for a lot of good projects, but let's be honest, the world is filled with bad actors and it's hard to trust anyone's intentions these days.

Maybe I am just uninformed and the information is out there to make me and others feel safe using our logins, but it's not obvious to the layperson and that's a problem.

@BeAware I'm confused. What is the issue of it not being an official Bluesky service compared to any peertube instance that is created?
in reply to Pierre

not using my mastodon account info on PeerTube.👍
in reply to BeAware :veriweed:

@BeAware To me that's more a personal choice and not an issue similar to using sign in with x (Google/Apple/Microsoft/Github)

Some prefer the convenience of using one account for all of fediverse while others prefer to create a single account for each Pixelfed, Mastodon, Peertube etc

in reply to Pierre

oh. So that's actually an option for peertube and other Fedi services besides Pixelfed? I didn't know. That's my mistake.
in reply to Pierre

Bluesky isn't really the Fediverse, Bluesky is more of a pseudo-Fediverse. Bluesky doesn't have properly independent instances that are owned by grassroots people.

Bluesky "instances" rely on corporate-owned Big Graph Services/Relays that are too expensive for grassroots ownership:

"(Bluesky) federation architecture allows anyone to host a (BGS) Relay, though it’s a fairly resource-demanding service. In all likelihood, there may be a few large full-network providers."

In other words it's putting the content feeds on Bluesky in the hands of large companies who will want to squeeze as much money out of it as possible.

Also, you don't need to be on PeerTube to post video. You can post video on Mastodon etc.

But PeerTube has features that are specifically suited to video because it was designed specifically for video publishers. That's why video makers tend to post on PeerTube rather than on Mastodon etc.
