If one, who has only eaten peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, goes and tries new foods, they would get more enjoyment if they didn’t expect the new foods to taste just like a peanut butter sandwich.
The #fediverse (what you refer to as #Mastodon) is wide and deep. It’s a different experience than #Twitter / #X and should be experienced as it is without having the Twitter/X lenses applied to it.
I love it here on the Fediverse. Sure, I don’t have as many followers here as I did on Twitter, but the amount of quality interactions I have had here is so much greater.
It took a bit for me to build up the network and the relationships — and I continue to — but it has all been worth it.

There are so many cool and interesting people on the Fediverse that trying to juggle the other two networks you mentioned isn’t even a thought in my mind.
At the end of the day, tacos (aka The Fediverse) are much tastier than peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (Twitter/X).

More and more ex-Twitter/X users are seeking new online homes. I kicked the tires on these three nascent services. Here's what you need to know about them.

“Only the poster knows you favorited it. So you can't see how many likes a post has.”
Not correct because if one looks at the original post on the server of the poster, they can see the count. It’s not hidden.
“Mastodon social addresses are longer and more complicated, because the server has to be attached to your profile name.”
All three are longer (not sure what’s complicated as it’s basically an email addresss but with an extra @ at the front). Threads hides its domain right now, but with ActivityPub integration, Threads addresses will be the same as the Fediverse (@user@threads.net). Bluesky just replaces the middle @ with a period: @user.bsky.social.
“I also joined Mastodon, which is more of a decentralized social network.”

Mastodon is just software, the Fediverse is the decentralized social network (and it isn’t “more of a decentralized social network”, it is a decentralized social network).
Perhaps Mr. Gewirtz can make a few edits to his article to align better with what the facts are.

in reply to David H. McCoy • • •Hey, I would never claim to be more knowledgeable than a guy with 10,000 comics. That's worth bragging about on your profile... I guess. [so amused]
But to clarify for Marcel, the walled garden reference came because a number of servers blocked me. One guy told me it was because he didn't agree with my writing. That be a wall.

in reply to David Gewirtz • • •I also have a BS in Computer Science and have nearly 30 years of professional software experience writing Enterprise systems. That’s what I do for a living.
You see that part of the profile? You more knowledgeable than that?
I don’t write about tech. I use and write tech.
And none of my profile was bragging. All of it was statement of fact.
[Update]I get paid *a lot* for my software engineering skills.
Probably more than you.
That’s bragging.

Just the way it worked out since DC was so bad when I was a kid, probably around 66% Marvel, 32% DC, and 2% other.
Rough estimate, but probably pretty close.

Iron Man vol 1 #107
Fantastic Four vol 1 #201
One of those was the first ever comic I bought as a kid. Not sure which one, so I give them equal status.

No favorite character, not really. I guess in the spirit of the question: If I could only read about one character, who would that be?
That’s a tough one for me to answer, I’m afraid.

A Batfleck standalone was such a missed opportunity, IMO.
