Our group arrived to a brilliant clear morning, then had a delay due to missing luggage, and by the time we got into the car we had a snow storm to drive home through!

in reply to Ewen Bell 📸 • • •The first night we shot auroras around the cabins, and got to grips with our camera gear in the cold conditions. Everyone did well. The second night we went harder, and ventured into the forest on a quiet little trail.
Under the moonlight we captured the fresh snow and frost that blanketed everything in white. And then the nordlys arrived! We kept going for about 3 hours, and Shellie served up hot drinks to keep us warm.

We've had the best possible start to the workshop. Fresh snow, then clear skies. Last night we waited in the mountains until 9pm and even shot star trails... there was no aurora to be seen. When we got back to the cabins they started up and did a little dance!
So I have no photos from last night's aurora. One of our group popped his tripod on the deck and let it roll into the night. He got some beautiful moments, while he slept!

I also managed to catch some sun today. Can't even remember when I did the last time.

Really changes the mood doesn't it.
We have the same issue when it rains in January and we loose the snow. Suddenly everything is dark and gloomy, on top of no sun. Lucky this year has been better. Last two years were awful for warm wet air from the south.

The lack of sun is the worst, otherwise I usually have no problem with dark and gloomy days.
I could swear there has not been more than aboute 10 days with sun since november here. And that is not common.

I think when the winter is nice in the Arctic it's damp in Europe, and when it's nice in Europe it's damp in the Arctic!
