Asteroid 2024 MK just safely flew past Earth at 13:45 UTC. At close approach, the 120 - 260 m size asteroid was at a distance of 290,000 km, which is closer than the Moon's distance of 384,000 km.
The asteroid was discovered on 16 June 2024, just 13 days ago.
This is a fairly large asteroid, capable of causing considerable damage, and yet it escaped detection until it got close.
BTW, tomorrow June 30 is Asteroid Day 🤔
