This afternoon's weather forecast is pretty grim and foreboding with talk of "severe" storms. The corn is SO close to being ready that I added some more rope supports to help keep it upright. Fingers crossed. Best laid plans and all... BTW look at the way the butternut squash has taken over the whole area.

Every year, my Echinacea purpurea put forth dozens of blooms. Almost as fast as they form, something starts methodically removing the florets, leaving each flowerhead a ragged mess. I've never actually seen what is doing it or if it is being done by multiple visitors. The bees seem not to mind anyway.
