I did take a few no Summer photos this morning. The weather was a combination of fog and drizzle so the lighting was not very light. We took the path less traveled to check out the dune flowers.

The air is heavy with humidity, and it's supposed to start raining tonight through tomorrow morning. My garden will be grateful.

The tomatoes are coming in early. Two heirloom varieties are ripening: AZ Cutler and Purple Cherokee. It's a miracle that I get any tomatoes at all given that our garden is mostly shaded. (photo attached)

The beauty of #decay ... the next #heatwave in France has started (I forgot to count them). It's a bad year for #roses (normally resistant plants for heat): They wilt shortly after opening and are then scorched by the sun. Trees shed their dead leaves as a survival mechanism.
With a colder time and some rain, they can start to sprout again but we have heatwave after heatwave. Northern Alsace, France.

Just opened roses, wilted after some hours, then scorched from dark pink to bright brown. Beside them the dried dark brwon leaves of a fearn, died by the drought and heat.

A brownish chaos of little stems and twigs, only a few green sprouts. It's European stonecrop, Petrosedum ochroleucum, a plant loving sun and dry stony soils. Even for this plant it can be too hot! It can regenerate with some rain ...
A little oak with brown dried leaves, only some leaves at the top are still greenish. Trees do this during droughts to protect themselves. They don't spend more energy for photosynthesis. After a heavy rain and during colder days, they can sprout again. But if the situation persists, the tree can die. And of course, these trees are extra dangerous for wildfires. They burn quickly.
