@Flipboard and Surf.Social are excited to host the first-ever Fediverse House, March 9 & 10, 2025.
Join us while the SXSW conference is going on to learn about the world of decentralized social and why it promises a better way for consumers, creators, brands, and even democracy itself.
Our programming lineup is stacked (and still evolving), but it’s looking like the place to be for anyone interested in the future of the internet.

I've been using @Flipboard's new @surf app—it provides a fresh look for discovering content across the #Fediverse. Here are my thoughts on why it's useful for those looking to break free from Big Tech + how it better connects decentralized communities.

So I got curious about #Flipboard’s presence on the #Fediverse. Quite interestingly, they’re building more than one service. Here’s the user stats on each:
* 1,223 users on flipboard.com (Flipboard)
* 6,036 users on flipboard.social (#Mastodon)
* 4 users on flipboard.team (#WriteFreely)
* 15 users on flipboard.video (#Peertube)
Their real game-changing tech, however is @surf — a downright revolutionary service that will change how you interact with social content.

The #SurfApp from #flipboard (currently in Beta) is actually pretty cool / powerful for certain types of feeds. So far I've made myself a "shellsharks" feed (just aggregating all my stuff from across the "social web", and I've made a "Fedi Artists" feed inspired by this shellsharks.com/notes/2024/08/…
If you're in the beta, feel free to check the feeds out!

I'm going to go play around with it more and make some more feeds! Shoutout to @mike !
Since the newest update to @surf, links to feeds can be opened directly in the app.
I have created a #Cybersecurity feed on #Surf for anyone on the beta. The feed includes posts, etc., regarding Cybersecurity information. You can even contribute to the feed using the hashtag #CyberSecBrief.

If you have any recommendations for a source that I can add to the feed, just let me know.
If you are not in the Surf beta, I have an invite code that can get you in. Just DM me, and I will share it with you. This is all due to the huge thanks of @marci, @mike, and all of the @surf team. They are such great people.
