Can't vote from friendica so voting via comment: Classic toolbars FTW. Tabbed UI feels un-organised on macOS in its current form and has UI issues that have gone unaddressed for several years:

Thus strong opposition to make tabbed UI default. It is not usable nor ready. Classic toolbar is. I really don't see the point in making UX worse for users and force not-ready tabbed UI on them.

The better option would be a UI selection dialog on first launch of LibreOffice (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137931). It would annoy users of Classic toolbars since they have one more hoop to jump through before they can begin to work with LibreOffice but if other users are unhappy because they don't know where to find tabbed UI, a selection dialog is probably a feasible compromise.

Look! A #LibreOffice feature you may not know about 😉 When exporting a #PDF the "Hybrid PDF" option embeds the original file. Then anyone with a PDF reader can view the file – and LibreOffice users can edit it too: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Writer/PDF_Hybrid#What_is_a_hybrid_PDF_file? #foss #OpenSource

Good #LibreOffice news:

"Patrick Luby (NeoOffice) fixed issues related to the transparency-to-alpha rework, fixed a Skia issue related to a changed default, fixed horizontal swiping and scrolling when using an RTL UI, made it possible to encrypt files with using public GPG keys with unknown Ownertrust on macOS and fixed macOS crashes"

This is item # 27 in the monthly dev / qa report: https://qa.blog.documentfoundation.org/2024/04/11/qa-dev-report-march-2024/

And it means that for the first time for as long as I can recall, #OpenPGP in @LibreOffice on #macOS is in an actual usable state 😼

Kudos Patrick for your persistence in addressing the nasty issues around this implementation.

Schleswig-Holstein is dumping #Windows and Office for #Linux and #LibreOffice

Sehr cool!

The German state of Schleswig-Holstein has announced they are moving ~30,000 PCs from Windows & MS Office to #linux & #libreoffice! https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/04/04/german-state-moving-30000-pcs-to-libreoffice/

Question! Why should local governments use taxpayers’ money to buy proprietary, closed software from a single vendor? And what happens to citizens' data? A solution is to move to free and open source software like #Linux and #LibreOffice – which is exactly what Schleswig-Holstein is doing: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2024/04/04/german-state-moving-30000-pcs-to-libreoffice/ #foss #OpenSource #privacy

Schleswig-Holstein geht voran:

#LibreOffice statt M$ Office
#Linux statt Windows
#Thunderbird statt Outlook
#Nextcloud statt Sharepoint
