Besides giving each other some elbow room & being short--so you can see the landscape--another reason I love piñon juniper (PJ) forests is you see amazing bonsai like growth patterns! Like Kent Frost wrote in "My Canyonlands": "I would hate to live up in the northwest where all them trees are, you can't hardy see the sky because there's so many trees. I'd miss these here great distances when I get out of this country. I'd be lost if I had to live in another place."
