This fall’s election could be close. Late-breaking economic news, international conflicts, and the candidates’ policy positions all might be enough to tilt the election.

As you might remember, the 2000 Bush-Gore election came down to 537 votes in Florida.

Had the weather been drier in some counties, Gore likely would have become president.
