For now, you need to sign up.

Hopefully it won't be long before it's federated. As far as I know, they're working out how to send the videos and not fill up every instance's storage with loops videos.

@Plasticbluemusic Yeah, one thing I wish was a bit more streamlined was following new fesi accounts on other apps. I don’t mind copy/pasting names I want to follow into to #mastodon. Least that’s my experience with #peertube and #pixelfed

@Plasticbluemusic yeah...that's generally how to do it. Discoverability is one of the bigger issues of Fedi but hopefully things will get better in the coming months with the Mastodon team working on "Fediscovery".🤷‍♂️

@Plasticbluemusic That is true. But (most) people have gotten hashtags down from twitter and YouTube. Maybe user set algorithm weighing system? Let the instance set its preferred hashtags and the users can adjust it to taste?

@Plasticbluemusic maybe, but then you'd still have instances like mastodon.social that's a general instance and won't have a special subset of topics that are talked about.

Though, I'm almost positive we'll not see algorithms here for a long time. Most Fedi people seem to be absolutely against it because usually they require gathering data about your usage.🤷‍♂️
