A very very senior game #developer recently told me how he is changing specialization because #AI is much better than him at what he does already.

I asked him if it was just the speed and mass of code, to which he replied that #Claude 5 Fable/Mythos is just so advanced, it comes up with solutions he would never have thought of, not even requiring good prompts anymore.

He further said in some areas like #Unity it's not perfect yet, but improving drastically.

Honestly this is pretty different to what I read in many articles regarding #AI #Code.

They mentioned errors, bad performance & such.

However if it is already used in production and he as a professional evaluating it, is saying it's better than him...

That same day I also talked to somebody that got hired to train an #LLM. His interview was with that companies chatbot, that offered him over 120$ per hour, a roughly 500% increase from his previous job 🀣

I think it is true the LLMs are improving dramatically and very fast. I think your pal was impressed by some good results and got frustrated. I also think and know that LLMs are far from perfect and you can find many information about the not so impressive stories.
My son kind of forced me to try them and I have many of those myself.
The problem in my opinion is no AI advancing but dehumanizing the persons required to do a certain job involving AI, yet this is not new right?

@olonam

He told me he’s been following/using #Claude for a while, including earlier models. The previous version had already become better at his job than he was, and it was used at his former company.

He said all the issues I asked about were fixed with good prompts and that the latest versions outperform him even without a good prompt. He seems pretty down to earth, so I didn't get the impression that he is just one of those hyped people who tested #AI πŸ€–

Capitalism loves to dehumanize ;)

just found this in my feed, quite relevant I think

@olonam I feel like people also overestimate the impact of the issues with AI, because even if people die, it doesn't really matter in capitalistic world (as long as it doesn't affect the bottom line), which has been proven over and over again.

All #AI has to be, is almost as good as a human employee, as those also make mistakes.

If the AI costs 95% less than an employee but can deliver 95% of the work, it's a no-brainer for every capitalist. And the numbers seem even better than that.

yah I would argue that people are having different outcomes and experiences implementing it. In my case, so far, I haven't seen any implementation in software development that can substitute humans.
Sure it write code and hell is fast and Β«goodΒ» but that was never the problem to solve, again, in my opinion.
What the industry and the market lacks never was lines of code, being able to produce 100x lines of code I doubt will translate to 100x features or 10x.
