Don't use #HexChat #XChat or #BitchX. They haven't been developed in years, possibly decades. They are prone to application and security issues. I'm not saying don't use #IRC. Just don't use those clients. Since I #selfhost , I use #TheLounge for my #IRCClient.

I LOVE #hexchat. It was my goto #IRC client for years. The maintainer abandoned it in Feb of 2024. See - hexchat.github.io/news/2.16.2.ā€¦

I jumped to #TheLounge because it behaves well on mobile and desktop and maintains connection when I'm not actually using it because I selfhost it 24x7.
