Occasionally, I reassess my native Linux Synth/sampler plugins collection & try to come up with a favorite top 10. While I have plenty more, if forced to choose 10 today it would be:
* Repro
* Hive 2
* Chipsynth OPS7
* Quanta 2
* Sforzando
* Decent Sampler
* Linux Sampler
* Zebra 3
* Apisonic Audio's Speedrum 2
* Shortcircuit-XT
I can make any sound with these.

It’s the only open source, open format sampler with a GUI, for creating and editing its samples. It is used for playing multisamples of real, acoustic instruments.

in reply to Ercanbrack • • •I’m aware of that :)
I was curious of what you use it for and why you like working with it?

I use it for making my own sampled instruments quickly with a gui. I like working with it because it has a gui.

in reply to Ercanbrack • • •my impression was that it’s not the fastest GUI, atleast not compared to Bitwig’s sampler.
But I like everything about the Surge-team, so I just keep thinking I like it already and will start using it one day :)

I prefer TX16Wx, but it uses challenge/response copy protection, and Shortcircuit-XT is open source, so I listed it instead. It’s more of an ideological choice.

Agreed! It’s a great service for #LinuxAudio.

(there are at least several sample-based modules included for some wild patching)

I went deeply back-and-forth on that one. In the end, I felt like Zebra 3 would cover most of the bases I needed and probably sound better, but it is one of them that I have highly valued in my collection. I was just making myself pick only 10. 🙂
