France Is Hotter Than the Sahara. This Is Everyone’s Warning.
"The real danger isn’t only that these events are happening. It’s that we’re learning to live with them. Not by adapting in the serious, science-based, justice-based sense. But by emotionally accommodating them. Politically absorbing them. Lowering our expectations. Shrinking our imaginations. Forgetting what abundance felt like. Forgetting what safety felt like. Forgetting that this was preventable."

Beautifully written explanation of why Europe’s heatwave must not be normalised, whether it’s to “but that’s every summer in Australia” or to “I guess this is just what summer will be like in Europe from now on”.
There is still time to mitigate some level of climate change, and we don’t want to waste that opportunity with apathy and inertia.

This is good news!
The scientists behind the new independent organization Climate.us are the same experts Trump fired because they were researching and reporting on climate change.
Formerly NOAA’s Climate.gov, they didn’t disappear. They rebuilt.
Now they’re independent and preserving climate data, outside of political interference, with public support and a team of volunteer scientists.
“Scientists say the early-season heatwave is part of a broader warming trend. Europe is the world’s fastest-warming continent, with temperatures rising by approximately 0.56C per decade since the mid-1990s, more than double the global average.”
