I’ve not seen any #monarch #butterflies so far this spring but they’ve obviously been here. Spotted these two monarch #caterpillars yesterday on the one milkweed in my front #garden, a survivor that has regrown after dying back to the soil following our big winter freeze. Hope these make it to adulthood, the ones I saw last year disappeared before pupating.

July 14, 1983: Entering Pen Mar Park was a relief. In the years around 1900, this spot was billed as the Coney Island of the Blue Ridge, with an amusement park, seven hotels and about a hundred boarding houses. After years of slow decline, the park was forced out of business by World War II gas rationing in 1943.

My ground phlox (possibly Phlox subulata/moss phlox) has achieved blanket status.
I'm a sucker for mass blooms. A friend of mine has large swaths of this phlox & was kind enough to borrow me a cup 2 yrs ago. A cup that was 1.5' x 2' chunk that I then plopped down in a 1.5' x 2' space.
Easy peasy phlox carpet squee-sy.

I really enjoy using this lens, changing the perspective, playing with the light. The other day, with the influence of desert sandstorms still visible in the sky, I went for a short walk in the beginning of sunset. This small puddle made me think of this week's challenge - water.

Precis innan solen går upp börjar fågelsången fylla luften. Dags att gå upp och starta upp en brasa. Frusna fötter utanför myggnätet, krångla mig ur hammocken och in i daggfuktiga kängor, hugga ved och göra kokkaffe.
Myggstackare och bärfis på plockade blåbären gör upplevelsen komplett.
Havregrynsgröt med bärfisblåbär är en dunderkur mot stadsstress och digital fångenskap.
