I guess it is not a surprise. Most of you think that social media platforms that utilize algorithmic feeds are inherently anti-free-speech. So do I.
You have made the choice to join Mastodon, where the content you see is chronological and not decided by algorithms. IMHO, you have made the right choice.
I remember a time when we all viewed the Web with optimism. The more people we could get to join, the better for the world. Now it is a bit more mixed, but IMHO social media companies that utilize algorithmic feeds are to blame. We can move towards a better Web together by getting more people to join us.

For two weeks in a row, #Mastodon brought more #traffic than #X / #Twitter to heise.de.
But I forgot, that's not just via @heiseonline, but also @heisec, @ct_Magazin, @heiseautos, @iX_Magazin etc. (but for Twitter its the same).

If you run a Mastodon server you probably already know about some of the existing tools for collectively managed domain blocks.
As an alternative, I created a simple Python script that lets you copy public domain blocks from servers you trust for an easy import.

Just a little bit frustrating to read people saying "the Fediverse should have starter packs" when I've spent the last four+ years hand-curating recommended accounts to follow on @FediFollows and fedi.directory
I'm not the only person doing this kind of initiative, the Trunk directory (communitywiki.org/trunk) was the first, and the Fediverse.info directory by @dansup (fediverse.info/explore/people) is an automated way for people to add themselves to suggested lists.
We already have these things on the Fedi, people just need to ask around and discover them, and let their friends know about them.

Check out @steve on #SocialHub with a proposal to work on #ActivityPub #C2S, the client-to-server Social API part of the #W3C Recommendation.
The Social API didn't get much uptake on the #Fediverse where generally the #Mastodon API is used (and abused) for client/server communication.
It is not because the Social API isn't good, just that no one ever did the legwork to mature this part of the spec.
