Hey fedi. My wife was affected by the #stackoverflow layoffs last year. Since then she has had a verbal offer rescinded because the company was acquired during the process and has been runner up multiple times.

She has 5 years of professional theater experience (stage management) and has been working as a meeting and events manager for the past 8. Her last 5 years have been focused in tech b2b marketing.

If you know of any cool US based roles reach out!

What's happening with #Lemmy and #Kbin these days? Are they both still being actively developed? Are they thriving? Did one win at the expense of the other? Or do they coexist without issue?

I've heard very little about either since the #Reddit situation blew up, but the situation with #StackOverflow has reminded me and it'd be great to understand w here things are with them now. Where would I go to see a functioning Reddit replacement on the #Fediverse?

The fediverse won’t succeed at putting up a #Stackoverflow substitute and that’s a problem?

Just an impression: All the pieces seem to be there. But what’s required is a team, with devs, PMs and coordinators, dedicated to making a particular place in the #fediverse .

That’s resources and decently sized financial and organisational demands, especially to get a critical mass of users.

Is the fediverse up to that challenge? If not, is it an issue worth addressing?

As an EU citizen, I'm using my right to deletion to get #StackOverflow to remove my data for me.

Here is the link to the form: https://policies.stackoverflow.co/data-request/

I requested a copy of my data for my personal backup and to confirm if they fulfilled my request. #GDPR

Edit: As people noted in the replies, this will probably not remove your questions or answers, but only your profile. I'm going to edit with my result once they have fulfilled my request.

The Stack Overflow rugpull is another data point in my head which discourages me from contributing *any* content to a hoard owned by a corporation.

I’m hoping that ActivityPub will one day enable SO-style knowledge bases in which the individual nuggets of content are owned by independent servers and cannot be purchased by anyone.

So developers will stop sharing information on #StackOverflow and future #Copilot and friends will be forever stuck in the past, answering questions about historically relevant frameworks and languages.
