A year ago, it was a gloriously steamy day in the otherwise very dry high desert of Ely, Nevada. A good rain storm really makes a difference!

A black and white portrait photo of an old time steam engine backing out of its engine house. There's a long trench in the floor where the engine is parked (for servicing the underside of the engine). The sides of the bay door are visible on the right and left. Lots of steam is boiling around the engine and smoke is coming out of the smoke stack. A large building can be seen on the right in the background. In the left background are two towers. The one in front is square and tall. The one in back is much taller and is round. A large oil can sits on the ground just outside of the bay door on the left.
