They can't seem to help themselves with those internal memos 🀯:
"...reported that the company was considering adding facial recognition to its glasses. In an internal memo on the topic, a #Meta employee wrote that the timing to launch might be perfect: "We will launch during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns.""

As far as I'm concerned, anyone wearing those fucking things in public is asking to have them taken away and stomped on.

@imalcolm I wonder what will happen when he throws one into the crowd at the end of the presentation and you catch it ;)

Ooh, in that case I'd be torn between:

(a) sticking it down my pants to give him some "special" footage before stomping, or

(b) pretending to be grateful, getting up on stage and then recording as I flick one of his ears repeatedly until he starts crying and promises to stop actively trying to make the world a worse place, and then stomp them.

(a) would be the lesson of a lifetime ;)

Then those poor workers in Kenya would have to watch it though:

#Meta stores & makes people in Kenya watch everything their users' #smartglasses record (if not opted out) supposedly even having sex, using the toilet, & changing clothes.

Whatever you do, Meta sees, Meta hears, Meta knows:

Same for #MetaAI:
Meta confirmed that it β€œsometimes” shares content that users share with the Meta AI generative AI chatbot with contractors to review with β€œthe purpose of improving people’s experience...”

Judging by that story, they would have seen worse... 😬

PS Bloody hell, that's even more of a privacy nightmare than I imagined.

@imalcolm Glad you like it! Just really started it a couple of months ago and already so many great people joined :)

There is a big DeMeta plan hehe Once I have more time I will announce it!

in reply to MadeInDex πŸ“°πŸŒŽ

Definitely! TBH I don't spend that much time on Reddit, more just check in occasionally, but this seems worth keeping up with! πŸ‘

@imalcolm Same, will likely start some Fediverse version soon, that should make it easier for most here to join :)
