Statue of a Philosopher (Dion, Greece)

Four headless statues were found in the triclinium of the Villa of Dionysus in Dion. Three of the heads were found during excavations in the atrium. One of the statues has the long hair and beard typical of many philosopher portraits.

Apart from some very early trials that didn't convince me, I never tried aerial poses for the Photosynthesis project, until finding some way of introducing dynamism became paramount. I quickly found out that despite the slow speed I shoot at, there's no motion blur. I also realised that I needed really small textures to be legible fused with the body. Phoufie and I did an entire session of these "jumps" and we are both super happy with the results...
