A tiny orange and brown pearl crescent butterfly spreads its wings in the sun as it rests on a white clover blossom. From wingtip to wingtip, it's about 1.25 inches (3.2 cm).
This tiny butterfly with an underside of gray with dark dots and a few orange dots is a short tailed blue butterfly. The other side of its wings is a lovely blue. It is small, with a wingspan of less than 1 inch (2.5 cm)
The common milkweed is blossoming. There is a ball of flowers that are pink with a darker red center. They have a pleasant scent. There are some insects on the flowers, but the only one I think I can identify is at 12 o'clock on the cluster of flowers. It is a small bee, which I think is a bellflower resin bee.
