Today is the most ridiculous day for #BackyardBirding! First a rose-breasted grosbeak at our feeder (first time we’ve seen one IRL), then a full-color goldfinch, and just now a Baltimore oriole showed up at the hummingbird feeder. First time getting photos of a BO. YAYYY 🤩

Also, Mr and Mrs Bluey (our eastern bluebird couple) have been hanging out, too.

April 27 is #InternationalCrowAndRavenAppreciationDay

Highly intelligent, ravens can use tools and solve problems. They have a wide and complex range of vocal and non-vocal sounds. These two ravens exchanged a piece of wood and also some kelp on the shoreline of Vancouver Island. Photo and text from my book: Wild Vancouver Island.

🇦🇹 Letztens hatte ich ja die Ziesel besucht. Heute war ein anderer Nager dran: ein Feldhamster am Friedhof Meidling 🙂

🇬🇧 Recently I visited the ground squirrels. Today it was the turn of a different rodent: an european Hamster that lived at the Cemetery in Meidling/Vienna 🙂

The dogs and I see tens of kangaroos around our property when on our morning walks. Most of the 'roos are quite used to us and just stand and watch us as we pass by.

Since it's still pouring rain... 🙄 Although you still have to be reasonably careful with the pro camera gear, doing my job in wet conditions is still possible and I actually love it, as you see the dolphins in neutral, flat light with no glare on the wet skin - here's a young dolphin playing "Frisbee" with a jellyfish in the rain. #Dolphins #nature #Scotland #wildlifephotography.
