So this is the pictograph to the left of the really crisp one seen in my last post. Sadly, this one has not fared well over the centuries. The left side of it has mostly been washed away by water running down the cliff face. I enhanced this one quite a bit so we could see some of the detail. When it was fresh, I think this one would have really been spectacular! It has many more elements to it than the last one I posted.

A color photo of a badly eroded pictograph painted in a red ocher. There's two anthropomorphs. The one of the right is still complete and is like a long ribbon to two short legs. The right arm is extended downward showing five figures. The left arm holds what looks like a snake at arm's length. The snake's head points toward the figure's head which has two tall hairy antenna features. The figure has an open spiral shape in its chest. The figure on the left has a long ribbon body that is mostly washed away. It is bigger than the figure on the right. Two arms extend out from the body and point downward. The head is hammerhead looking with very large eyes. A floating snake points toward the figure's left cheek. In between the two figures, at waist level, are seven egg shaped drawings that have lines extending a short distance from opposing ends. Each appears to have been painted white in the middle of the egg shape. Above and between the figure's heads are four shapes that look like two birds flying above one another with an arch shape above each set of birds. To the far right of the first figure, above and below the snake being held at arm's length, are four circles with comet like tails extending off to the right. Two are above the snake and two are below.

A close crop of an earlier post from a couple of weeks ago. Also, since I'm on my home computer, I slightly enhanced it using a parametric mask in Darktable to reveal a bit more detail.

A color photo of a pictograph. On the left is a smallish bent over two legged creature with front legs (or arms) spread wide revealing four toes (or figures). The front feet or hands have holes in the palms. Moving to the right is a long rope like image on four long lines surrounded by a pair of shorter lines on either side. All of the lines merge at the top where a short squiggly line emerges as if it were a string to hang the bundle by. This same feature is repeated on the far right, except there are only three center long lines surrounded by single lines on either side. Between the two hanging line figures is a figure with the head of a hammerhead shark, except there are two large hole on each side of the hammer. The body extends down with what appears to be a simple blanket design. There are two short legs with circles at the bottom. And two short arms are spread wide with four fingers each. There's holes in each hand. A snake is above the head.

I'm not sure who that old coot is photo bombing this cliff dwelling, but I saw him free climb down into the canyon from the mesa top. Silly old guy must have went up the wrong canyon looking for this ruin, climbed out, walked across the mesa, & then climbed down into this, the right canyon with its really cool cultural site. There's rock art decorating the canyon walls, pottery shards, 800-year-old corn cobs, & pressure flakes everywhere!

Nice little canyon I'm camped next to this evening.

A deep canyon of reddish tan sandstone. The sides of the canyon are dotted with juniper and pinon pine trees. It very steep and rocky with large boulders everywhere.

A nice pictograph I came across in canyon country yesterday. Probably ~800 years old. Actually saw some green pictographs as well! Very rare, but too faded for posting here. I might see if I can enhance them when I get back to my home computer.

A prehistoric dark red pictograph on lighter red sandstone. It's an anthropomorph. The body is triangular shaped. The arms hang down from wide shoulders with hands spread wide. At the end of long stick like legs are bird like looking feet. The head is hard to see but it is kind of like a triangle with a mob of hair on top.
