Queen Of Icelandic Mountains

This is Herðubreið, literally "broad-shouldered," a steep-sided volcano formed when lava erupted through thick ice.
Tuyas like this are rare worldwide, only found in areas covered by glaciers and with active volcanism at the same time.

At 1,682 meters (5518’) Herðubreið is the 6th tallest peak in Iceland and is called the "national mountain."
