#SunbeamSaturday

Climbing into the clouds, we looked back towards the fjord and this beautiful sight.

September 2025: Across the stepped slopes of Botnshorn (467m/1532ft) towards Geirþjófsfjörður¹ in Vesturbyggð, Westfjords of #Iceland.

Fly! (2025)

Taken from my balcony (it's not fair I know) during the nightly migration of crows from West Vancouver, East, to Burnaby. A fun and daily event to enjoy at sunset.

Terraces

The stepped side of the mountain is clothed in autumnal colours. Carpets of mosses and grasses are interwoven with gravelly channels.

All around us is the sound of running water.

Ten years ago, to the minute, I stood in front of this tree and pressed the shutter.
The tree is still there. The light still returns.
The person behind the camera is not quite the same.
Tempus fugit.

I took this photo in oxhagen nature reserve (Sweden, Uppland) when I was walking there with my father. It's an ultra-wide angle photo, 14 mm on a full-frame camera. #blackandwhite #Monochrome #nature #landscapephotography #NaturePhotography

View From The Top

Near Bolungarvík in the Westfjords of #Iceland is a 638m/2093ft high mountain named Bolafjall.

A road was built to the top in 1986 for a radar station and in 2002 it was opened to the public. In 2022 an observation deck was added.

The view across Ísafjarðardjúp and Denmark Strait is astonishing. A fishing boat is lending scale. Hornstrandir Nature Reserve was clearly visible on that day.

Lagoon Fjord

October 2025: Lónsfjörður is a shallow tidal lagoon and part of an unique coastal environment, a mix of black sand beaches, rivers, and wetlands ideal for wildlife.

This part of Lónsöræfi (Lón Nature Reserve) supports a range of migratory birds including whooper swans in the summer and autumn, some of which can be seen in this shot.

Eystrahorn in eastern #Iceland, is 756 metres/2,480 feet tall.

First-off, sorry to anyone seeing this twice for no good reason. There was a reason, a software-related one, but not necessarily good. I lost a few days of posts due to a backup.

Anyhoo, here's the trip to Old Hollow Lake and Salem Lake last week. Man, do I wish I had the original draft for this post so I didn't have to write this out again lol.

I walked 1/3 of the 7 mile hike before my leg started hating me again... but as we all know, going 1/3 in means I had to turn around and take it all back. So, yeah, stubborn me never learns his lesson. I have taken a resolution to completing the 7 mile hike of Salem Lake at some point, but I'll have to return much later, much more prepared and with my leg actually healed.

Anyway, here's the four bests I chose from this trip but like I said when I posted this originally, it was between a few, so, others may trickle in.

Welcome To Narnia

Clothed in autumnal colours, streams tumbling beside us, waterfalls on every steep rockface, and the beauty of the long fjord leading to the sea. Magical.

Fjarðardalur, the "Fjord Valley," softly lit by sunlight from behind us and patched by cloud shadows ahead.

Looking like a scene from a fantasy novel, this is Mjóifjörður in eastern #Iceland.

Edit: Thanks to @logi for the heads up.

Examples today of lenticular clouds over the Cerro Torre & Fitzroy. They appear to be moving real slow but in fact signal very high winds speeds.

Nice to see the very summit of Cerro Torre itself appearing in one of the images. The W face will be plastered with new snow but the E facing side that we can see here is so steep no snow can accumulate apart from the snow mushrooms adorning the summit slopes.
