The center’s board of trustees on Thursday voted to seek a stay of US District Judge Christopher Cooper’s directive to take Trump’s name off the center’s exterior by Friday because, as Cooper wrote, the #law states Congress gave the center its name, & only Congress can change it.

Judge Orders #Trump Name Off #KennedyCenter, & He Throws A Tantrum
Judge Christopher R. Cooper, of the Federal District Court in Washington, determined that the board’s decision to add Trump’s name to the #KennedyCenter violated a #law passed by #Congress in 1964 that made “crystal clear” the institution was to be named for former President #JohnFKennedy.
“Congress gave the Kennedy Center its name, & only Congress can change it,” the judge wrote in a 94-page opinion.
