Acknowledging that the people who hurt you were heavily traumatized themselves doesn't excuse their behavior.

But I've found that understanding where someone's behavior might have come from helps me by taking the blame away from me. I wasn't the problem. It was their trauma influencing their perceptions and reactions.

So yes, we’re all neurodiverse.

But the statement is quite a conversation stopper. Which, I suspect, is exactly the effect desired by the larger societal agenda that reinforces it.
