Fucking "app culture" drives me crazy. I got asked to install a mobile app just to look at the itinerary and accommodation information for a trip I'm going on.

Why isn't it just a web page?

So obviously I said "fuck that noise, hold my beer", reverse-engineered the app, and re-implemented it as a web page generator. It does all the same things as the "app" except now there's no tracking, no ads, and you get all the Web's features "for free" (deep links, copy-pasting, search-in-page, printing, works on anything, etc.).

Is $1.4 trillion a reasonable amount for these cases? Who knows.

Is it reasonable compensation for all the evil they’ve done? I’d argue yes.

It’s essentially their entire market capitalization as a penalty.

Interesting what Nostalgia is able to Archive in some people. 😁

I rarely use nor see the web version and their UI of Mastodon because, that's one of the the few exceptions where I prefer an app over a web UI, the spacing and margin of the whole UI is not for me. 😒

Using a certain App for Mastodon in general gives me more benefits than the plain web version and its UI after all. 😉
