Yesterday, I posted a chart with Mastodon active users to discuss the problems of Mastodon. I also cross-posted it over 10 of my connected profiles. I got max 10 comments on that from all the profiles during the day. Today I posted a similar post on Reddit r/Mastodon and got more than 70 comments in 3 hours. It's much easier to discuss Mastodon on Reddit than on Mastodon itself. Lol.

You could try asking someone with a bigger following to boost it.

in reply to econads • • •@econads Thanks, but It doesn't solve the general problem.
I didn't ask anyone to boost it on Reddit, its organic engagement just did it.
The same goes for Bluesky, which shows better engagement than Mastodon.
Social networks like Instagram originally had this potential, but they seized people's attention and exchanged it for ads.

in reply to Henry Fisher • • •@econads Heh, still using the wrong narrative I see. You can't really compare the platforms like this.
"Reddit vs. Mastodon" - I mean WHICH one?
"Engagement" - a non-word.

in reply to Roni Laukkarinen • • •@rolle "engagement" a non-word? Seriously? What else? Growth, retention and active users mean nothing?
I guess I see a problem here 🥲

in reply to Henry Fisher • • •I don't understand. Do you mean you have 10 different Mastodon-profiles? Why?
I'm somewhat surprised you haven't "found" more of the Swedish contingency here since you seem to live in Stockholm. I'll boost after replying.
To your point: Algorithm driven engagement is a hella powerful drug. It will take a lot of time to get off it.
That's the explanation both for why people register and then leave Mastodon, and why you got more engagement on Reddit with your post.
