That means there would likely be very little incremental value to adding Mastodon as a supported platform, at least for now.”

My point still stands. There are lots of folks sticking with Twitter/X because they’re scared of losing their audience. Even now, I doubt WordPress will take a stand against closed, centralized systems, for fear that it hurts their brand, so they’ll probably cross-post for the foreseeable future.
